By now, you all should know that I am someone who loves to dream. Yes, I am a day dreamer! :-)
When I was a college student, I always get inspired by the industrial creative directors. I followed their stories and their updates as much as I can. I envisioned myself in their position.
I subscribed to Campaign Brief Asia. I, particularly love the session, "Hottest Creative In Asia" ranking.
One day, I looked at the ranking list and started to imagine my name in the list. I printed it out and pasted on my wall as you can see from the photos! :-)
One night in 2000, I dropped a message to Yasmin Ahmad's Facebook. I admired her work. I followed her story. I learned how she shared her story. She inspired me a lot.
I told her I have a story to share with her. I didn't expect her to reply.
But, to my surprise!
She responded immediately. "Yes, my dear. Sure. Let's come out for yamcha!" She invited me to watch her movie, "Talentime"
I was so happy and so encouraged!
One day, I saw Yasmin in KLCC but from a distant. She was with a group of people. Suddenly, I recalled my message to her! That was easily 8 years ago. Yeah! I must write to her again. I must go "yamcha" with her! I was so excited!
One morning, I heard she pass away from massive bleeding in the brain at the Damansara Specialist Hospital. I was very sad.
After 20 years, nothing has changed! I am not who I've envisioned myself back in 20 years ago, "Hottest Creative In Asia" :-) Instead, I am grateful for who I am now.
One day, when I look back my own life, I know, “People don’t bother what you write, they care why you write it.”
I write because I care…
